14 ModVans CV1 Owner’s Manual V1.1
To remove the driver’s side storage cabinet, remove the four silver-colored bolts attaching it to the
floor. They are located in the end caps of the cabinet, visible from outside of it. You will need a socket
wrench with an extension in order to reach them. Have an assistant help you lift the cabinet straight up
off of the water tank in order to remove it. To remove the water tank, drain it, and then from under the
van, remove the bolts holding it in place. Have an assistant help you lift and remove the tank.
To remove the passenger’s side storage cabinet, remove the four silver-colored bolts attaching the
wooden frame of the cabinet to the floor. Slide the cabinet out a short distance until you can reach
behind it and disconnect the power to the refrigerator. Have an assistant help you lift and remove the
cabinet, with the refrigerator in it.
Solar Charging System (Optional)
The Solar Charging System consists of 3 components: the Solar Panel, the Solar Charge Controller, and
the Battery Monitor.
The Solar Panel is a large panel mounted on the roof of your CV1. The large size allows some parts to be
covered or shadowed while continuing to generate electricity. The amount of output will depend heavily
on how much sunlight reaches the panel. During the summer there is more daylight and the angle of the
sun is better. Clouds, snow, trees, mountains and other items can block sunlight from reaching the
panel.
The Solar Charge Controller automatically produces
the correct battery charging voltage from the
available sunlight. Generally, you will not need to
manage or configure the Solar Charge Controller. You
can monitor and configure the Solar Charge Controller
with a Bluetooth app on your smartphone. See the
Solar Charge Controller owner’s manual for detailed
instructions.
Located on the right side of the Control Panel, in the center of the ring of switches, the Battery Monitor
gives you an overall status for your house battery. The battery monitor measures all current flows in and
out of the house battery plus the house battery temperature, and it produces a
“state-of-charge” that is a more accurate estimate of your battery capacity than
a voltage reading. The Battery Monitor’s display can be configured to show
voltage, current (power use), and remaining battery capacity as a percentage. In
addition, you can monitor and configure the Battery Monitor with a Bluetooth
app on your smartphone. See the Battery Monitor owner’s manual for detailed
instructions.
The Solar Panel contains its own switch on the Lower Control Panel. To disable
the Solar Panel for service or while storing your CV1 for an extended period,
turn the Solar Panel switch to the Off position.
