ModVans CV1 Owner’s Manual V1.1 17
fridge works best when full of precooled items. Running the fridge empty will cause the compressor to
cycle frequently and use additional battery power. The freezer box can be removed if desired to make
more room for refrigerated items. See the fridge owner’s manual for detailed instructions.
Rooftop A/C
To use the Rooftop A/C, you must have 120V power. To get 120V power, turn on the inverter via the
Control Panel. The 2000W inverter is powerful enough to run the rooftop A/C; however, the house
battery alone cannot run the rooftop A/C (that would require a much, much larger battery!). To run the
rooftop A/C, you must either run the chassis engine (to allow its alternator to function as a generator) or
plug into shore power. Once the inverter has been turned on, you can control the Rooftop A/C with the
knobs on the ceiling. The Rooftop A/C includes a small electrical heater. Turn the function selector knob
to the heating, cooling, or fan function as desired, then set the temperature with the temperature knob
with the colored scale.
Toilet
The CV1’s toilet contains an integrated fresh water tank, black water tank, and battery operated pump.
We supply all toilet parts sealed in their original packaging, so the toilet will require a bit of attention
before its first use. See the toilet owner’s manual for detailed instructions. We highly recommend that
you carefully follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for adding deodorant and a bit of water at
the start to avoid odors. If you are traveling with youngsters or people who are challenged by the
operation of mechanical devices or by following instructions, be sure check that the holding tank valve
is completely shut before driving your CV1.
The toilet is attached to a mounting plate. To remove it:
1. Take the top half of the toilet off, following the instructions in the toilet owner’s manual.
2. Pull out the plastic tab on the floor at the front of the toilet until it stops (about ¼ inch).
3. Slide the bottom half of the toilet forward and lift it up and off of the mounting plate.
Reverse the process to reattach the toilet. Start with the bottom half slightly forward and above its
regular mounting position, and slide it backward and down simultaneously.
For privacy, a curtain is available to separate the toilet area from the rest of the van. It is attached to
the ceiling above the toilet. Unscrew the knob in the center of the curtain attachment until the curtain
cord moves freely. Extend the curtain cord across and attach it to the fitting on the opposite side of the
van.
Water Heater (Optional)
To use the water heater, turn on the LP Gas switch,
then use the water heater controls on the Control
Panel to set the desired temperature. See the furnace
owner’s manual for detailed instructions. It takes
about 30 minutes to completely heat a tank of water,
so plan accordingly.
