OVERVIEW: iDEN Digital Modulation Technology
The unit operates with a low-level battery voltage of 3.0 Vdc, nominal-level voltage of 3.7 Vdc, and high-level
voltage of 4.2 Vdc.
Figure 1-5 illustrates the DC power distribution in the i897 unit. The
Roadrunner IC has the following features:
• Analog/digital portions of a real-time clock (RTC)
• Battery charger
• 14-channel, 10-bit A/D converter
• Control logic
• Audio CODEC with serial interface
• Transducer amplifier
• Speaker amplifier (Hi Audio 0.5 watt into 8-ohm speaker)
• Alert amplifier
• Two amplifiers for (internal and external) microphone.
• Auxiliary amplifier
• SIM card level shifters
• RS232 and USB support
• Internal PMOS pass devices
• Serial peripheral interface (SPI) read/write interface
• Battery feedback switch
• LED Controller
