OVERVIEW: iDEN Digital Modulation Technology
The unit operates with a low-level battery voltage of 3.0 Vdc, nominal-level voltage of 3.7 Vdc, and high-level
voltage of 4.2 Vdc.
Figure 1-5 illustrates the DC power distribution in the i897 unit. The
Roadrunner IC has the following features:
Analog/digital portions of a real-time clock (RTC)
Battery charger
14-channel, 10-bit A/D converter
Control logic
Audio CODEC with serial interface
Transducer amplifier
Speaker amplifier (Hi Audio 0.5 watt into 8-ohm speaker)
Alert amplifier
Two amplifiers for (internal and external) microphone.
Auxiliary amplifier
SIM card level shifters
RS232 and USB support
Internal PMOS pass devices
Serial peripheral interface (SPI) read/write interface
Battery feedback switch
LED Controller
