Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 Notations Used in This Manual
Throughout the text in this publication, you will notice the use of note, caution, warning, and danger
notations. These notations are used to emphasize that safety hazards exist, and due care must be
taken and observed.
NOTE: An operational procedure, practice, or condition that is essential to emphasize.
1.2 Siren P/A Description
The MCS 2000 Siren/PA is an external accessory that generates siren tones and amplifies audio
signals from the radio for public address (PA). It can deliver 65, 75, or 100 watts of siren power to an
11 ohm speaker, or 130 watts to dual 11 ohm speakers. In the PA mode, it can deliver 50 watts of
audio power.
This accessory consists of the Siren/PA unit and the cables that connect the Siren/PA to your MCS
2000 radio system.
The Siren/PA unit is usually located in the cargo area of a vehicle. It can be operated using one of
the following:
Mobile radio control head
Direct Entry Keyboard (DEK-Plus).
CAUTION indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if
not avoided, might
result in equipment damage.
WARNING indicates a potentially hazardous situation
which, if not avoided, could
result in death or injury.
DANGER indicates an imminently hazardous
situation which, if not avoided, will
result in death or
injury.
