F
fringe area  The outermost range of a cellular system where cellular signals are 
weak.
function keys  The non-numeric keys on your phone used to access and navigate 
menu features, as well as perform memory functions. See page 27.
H
home system  The local cellular system where you obtain your cellular service.
home type system  A cellular system of the same type as your local cellular system.

L
landline  The telephone system used for conventional office and home phones.
Lithium Ion (LiIon)  A battery technology used in personal cellular telephones. 
Lithium Ion batteries generally provide more energy capacity than Nickel Metal 
Hydride batteries of the same weight.
lock code  A three-digit code used to access your phone once it has been locked. The 
factory programmed lock code is 123. To view or change your lock code, see page 
60.
M
memory location  A space in the internal Phone Book where you can store a tele-
phone number. Each of the Phone Book’s 20 memory locations (numbered 01-
20) can hold up to 16 digits.
N
Nickel Cadmium (NiCd)  A battery technology used in personal cellular telephone 
batteries.
Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) A battery technology used in personal cellular tele-
phone batteries.
non-home type system  A system type different from your home system. See also 
home type system, and system type.
