The heating current is measured indirectly using the voltage drop at the in-
ternal 1Ω resistor. The relationship I=U/R produces the result that, at
R=1Ohm, the numerical value of the measured voltage directly corre-
sponds to the numerical value of the heating current. The heating current
can be adjusted by setting the potentiometer P.
