Overview

The Multispan AVF-19N is a 3-phase panel meter designed for measuring and displaying various electrical parameters in industrial and commercial applications. This device provides clear, real-time readings of voltage, current, and frequency, making it an essential tool for monitoring electrical systems. Its user-friendly interface and robust design ensure reliable performance and ease of operation.

Function Description

The AVF-19N primarily functions as a comprehensive electrical parameter monitor for 3-phase systems. It accurately measures and displays line-to-line voltage (VLL), line-to-neutral voltage (VLN), current (A), and frequency (Hz). The meter is capable of operating in various wiring configurations, including 3-phase 4-wire (3Ph-4W), 3-phase 3-wire (3Ph-3W), and 1-phase 2-wire (1Ph-2W) systems, offering flexibility for different electrical setups. The device features a 3-digit/line 7-segment 0.56" red LED display, ensuring excellent readability of the measured values even in varying lighting conditions.

A key feature of the AVF-19N is its ability to display parameters in a pagewise manner. For a 3Ph-4W connection, the meter can show Vry, Vrn, Ir, Vpp-Avg, Vpn-Avg, Vyb, Vyn, Iy, I-Avg, Vrb, Vbn, Ib, and Freq across multiple pages. Similarly, for a 3Ph-3W connection, it displays Vry, Ir, Vpp-Avg, Vyb, Iy, I-Avg, Vrb, Ib, and Freq. In a 1Ph-2W connection, the meter shows Vrn, Ir, and Freq. This structured display allows users to easily navigate through different electrical parameters and obtain a complete overview of their system's status.

The AVF-19N also incorporates a Current Transformer (CT) selection procedure, allowing users to configure the CT ratio to match their specific installation. This ensures accurate current measurements, especially when dealing with high currents that require external CTs. The device can handle CT primary values up to 6000/5 ratio, and if the CT primary is greater than 975 Amp, a "KA" LED illuminates, and the bottom display shows the CT primary in kilo Amperes, providing clear indication for high current applications.

Usage Features

The AVF-19N is designed for intuitive operation, offering both auto and manual run modes. In auto mode, the device automatically scans through the parameter pages with a scan time of 5 seconds, providing a continuous cycle of readings without manual intervention. This is particularly useful for general monitoring where a periodic overview of all parameters is sufficient.

For more detailed inspection or specific parameter monitoring, the manual mode allows users to navigate through the parameter pages using the "Scroll" key. To change between auto and manual modes, the "Scroll" key needs to be pressed and held for 3 seconds and then released. Similarly, to change parameter pages within either mode, the "Scroll" key is pressed and released. This dual-mode functionality enhances the meter's adaptability to various monitoring requirements.

Setting up the CT ratio is a straightforward process. Users need to press and hold the "Scroll" key while powering on the unit. Upon immediately releasing the key, the unit enters the CT ratio editing mode, allowing the user to adjust the ratio using the "Scroll" key. This feature is crucial for ensuring the accuracy of current measurements in systems where CTs are employed. To save any changes made to the settings, the instrument must be powered off.

The device's connection diagram is clearly laid out, indicating terminals for current transformer inputs (S1, S2 for L1, L2, L3) and voltage inputs (VL1, VL2, VL3, N). It also includes terminals for power supply (L, N). The meter supports a wide range of current inputs from 0.5A to 5A AC and voltage inputs from 50V to 500V AC (line-to-line) and 30V to 300V AC (line-to-neutral), making it suitable for diverse electrical environments. The power supply range is 100V to 250V AC, 50/60 Hz, ensuring compatibility with standard power grids.

Maintenance Features

Maintaining the AVF-19N is essential for ensuring its longevity and accurate performance. The manual provides clear guidelines for both safety and installation, which indirectly contribute to the device's maintenance.

From a safety perspective, it is crucial to keep the power supply to the equipment OFF when performing any wiring arrangements to prevent the risk of electric shock. The terminals should not be touched while power is supplied. To minimize electromagnetic interference, it is recommended to use wires with adequate rating and twists of the same equal size, with the shortest possible connections. The cable used for connection to the power source should have a cross-section of at least 1mm² and an insulation capacity of at least 1.5kV. Using a standard power supply cable for the instrument can also improve anti-noise effects.

For installation, the AVF-19N is designed as a built-in type, meaning it becomes part of the main control panel. After installation and internal wiring, the terminals are not accessible to the end-user. It is important to prevent metal pieces, wire clippings, or fine metallic fillings from entering the product during installation, as this could lead to safety hazards or electrical shock. A circuit breaker or mains switch must be installed between the power source and the supply terminal to facilitate easy power ON/OFF, and it should be conveniently accessible to the operator. The instrument should always be used and stored within the specified ambient temperature and humidity ranges to ensure optimal performance.

Regarding mechanical installation, proper panel cutout dimensions are required. The unit is fitted into the panel using clamps. It should not be placed near heating sources, caustic vapors, oil steam, or other unwanted process by-products. The terminal block should be wired using specified crimp terminals (M3.5 screws) and tightened with a torque of 1.2 N.m. Unused terminals should not be connected to anything.

Routine cleaning is recommended to prevent blockage of ventilating parts. The equipment should be cleaned with a clean, soft cloth. It is important to avoid using isopropyl alcohol or any other cleaning agent that could damage the device. The manual explicitly states that the fusible resistor must not be replaced by the operator, indicating that such repairs should only be handled by qualified service personnel. These maintenance guidelines help ensure the device operates safely and effectively throughout its lifespan.
