Why is there low heat or low flame on my Napoleon grill when the valve is on high?
    • T
      Todd KingAug 16, 2025
The low heat or flame could be due to several reasons. If you are using propane, ensure you are following the correct lighting procedure, with all gas grill valves in the off position when you turn on the tank valve, and turn the tank on slowly to equalize pressure. Refer to the lighting instructions. If you are using natural gas, the supply line might be undersized and needs to be sized according to the installation code. For both gas types, ensure you preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes.

What to do if my Napoleon BIM605 Grill has excessive flare-ups or uneven heat?
    • J
      Jenna WhiteAug 19, 2025
Excessive flare-ups and uneven heat may be caused by incorrectly installed sear plates. Make sure the sear plates are installed with the holes towards the front and the slots on the bottom, referring to the assembly instructions. Ensure you preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes. Also, excessive grease and ash build-up on the sear plates and in the drip pan can cause this issue. Clean the sear plates and drip pan regularly, and do not line the pan with aluminum foil. Refer to the cleaning instructions.

Why does my Napoleon BIM605 Grill burner output on high setting seem too low?
    • K
      kimberly86Aug 22, 2025
A low burner output on the 'high' setting, accompanied by a rumbling noise and blue flame, can be caused by several factors: a lack of gas, a pinched supply hose, a dirty or clogged orifice, spider webs or other matter in the venturi tube, or a propane regulator in a 'low flow' state. Check the gas level in the propane cylinder and reposition the supply hose if necessary. Clean the burner orifice and venturi tube. Also, ensure you follow the lighting procedure carefully by turning all gas grill valves off when you turn the tank valve on, and turn the tank on slowly to allow pressure to equalize. See the lighting instructions.

What to do if rear and side burners of Napoleon BIM605 Grill will not light with the igniter?
    • C
      Carol ClarkAug 26, 2025
If the rear and side burners will not light with the igniter, but do light with a match, it could be due to a dead or incorrectly installed battery. Replace it with a premium heavy-duty battery. Also, check that the electrode wire is firmly pushed onto the terminal on the back of the igniter and that the lead wires from the module to the ignition switch (if equipped) are firmly pushed onto their respective terminals. Closing the air shutter slightly might also resolve the issue.

Why won't the main burner on my Napoleon grill light with the igniter?
    • C
      candaceoneillAug 28, 2025
If the main burner will not light with the igniter but will light with a match, the jet-fire outlet is likely dirty or clogged. Clean the jet-fire outlet with a soft bristle brush.

Why do the burners on my Napoleon BIM605 Grill burn with a yellow flame and smell of gas?
    • J
      Jennifer SanchezAug 31, 2025
A yellow flame accompanied by the smell of gas may indicate a spider web or other debris in the burner, or an improperly adjusted air shutter. Thoroughly clean the burner by removing it, following the general maintenance instructions. The air shutter should be opened slightly according to the combustion air adjustment instructions, but this adjustment must be done by a qualified gas installer.

What to do if my Napoleon BIM605 Grill infrared burner flashes back?
    • L
      Larry BarberSep 3, 2025
If the infrared burner flashes back, turn it off and allow it to cool for at least two minutes. Relight the burner and let it burn on high for at least five minutes, or until the ceramic tiles are evenly glowing red. Make sure that no more than 75% of the grill surface is covered by objects or accessories. If the issue persists, turn the burner off, let it cool, and inspect it closely for cracks. If you find any cracks, contact your authorized Napoleon dealer to order a replacement burner assembly.

Why do flames lift away from the burner on my Napoleon BIM605?
    • B
      bjamesSep 6, 2025
Flames lifting away from the burner, accompanied by the smell of gas and lighting difficulties, are likely due to an improperly adjusted air shutter. Close the air shutter slightly according to the combustion air adjustment instructions, but this adjustment must be done by a qualified gas installer.

Why does the 'paint' appear to be peeling inside the lid of my Napoleon BIM605?
    • A
      Andrew JohnsonSep 9, 2025
The 'paint' peeling inside the lid or hood is not a defect. The finish is porcelain and will not peel. The peeling is hardened grease that has dried into paint-like shards. Regular cleaning will prevent this. Refer to the cleaning instructions.

Why won't the burners cross light each other on my Napoleon BIM605 Grill?
    • D
      David WalkerSep 12, 2025
If the burners will not cross light each other, the cross light brackets are likely dirty or corroded. Clean or replace them as required.
