Why does the 'paint' appear to be peeling inside my Napoleon LEX lid?
    • R
      Ronald McbrideAug 16, 2025
The finish on the lid and hood is porcelain, and will not peel. What appears to be peeling is hardened grease, which dries into paint-like shards that flake off. Regular cleaning, as described in the cleaning instructions, will prevent this.

Why is there low heat/low flame when the valve is turned to high on my Napoleon Grill?
    • A
      Amanda WelchAug 19, 2025
Low heat or flame can occur due to several reasons. For propane grills, ensure you are following the correct lighting procedure, with all gas grill valves in the off position when the tank valve is turned on, and turn the tank on slowly to allow pressure to equalize. For natural gas grills, the supply line might be undersized, and the pipe must be sized according to installation code. For both propane and natural gas grills, improper preheating can be the cause. Preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes.

What to do if there are excessive flare-ups or uneven heat on my Napoleon LEX Grill?
    • S
      Sharon EstradaAug 22, 2025
Excessive flare-ups and uneven heat can be caused by sear plates installed incorrectly, improper preheating, or excessive grease and ash build-up on the sear plates and in the drip pan. Ensure the sear plates are installed with the holes towards the front and the slots on the bottom, following the assembly instructions. Preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes. Clean the sear plates and drip pan regularly, and do not line the pan with aluminum foil; refer to the cleaning instructions.

How to fix a Napoleon LEX Grill when the main burner won't light with the igniter?
    • D
      Donna BatesAug 26, 2025
If the main burner won't light with the igniter but lights with a match, the jet-fire outlet is likely dirty or clogged. Clean the jet-fire outlet using a soft bristle brush.

Why is the burner output on 'high' setting too low on my Napoleon LEX Grill?
    • C
      Christina SmallAug 28, 2025
If the burner output on the high setting is too low, accompanied by a rumbling noise and a flute ring blue flame at the burner surface, it could be due to several factors: lack of gas, a pinched supply hose, a dirty or clogged orifice, spider webs or other matter in the venturi tube, or a propane regulator in a 'low flow' state. Check the gas level in the propane cylinder and reposition the supply hose if necessary. Clean the burner orifice and venturi tube. Ensure the lighting procedure is followed carefully: all gas grill valves must be in the off position when the tank valve is turned on, and turn the tank on slowly to allow pressure to equalize.

Why won't the rear and side burners light with the igniter on my Napoleon Grill?
    • G
      Gina JacksonAug 31, 2025
If the rear and side burners will not light with the igniter but will light with a match, the issue could stem from a dead or incorrectly installed battery, a loose electrode wire or switch terminal wires, or lifting flames on the burner. Replace the battery with a premium heavy-duty battery. Check that the electrode wire is firmly pushed onto the terminal on the back of the igniter. Also, check that the lead wires from the module to the ignition switch (if equipped) are firmly pushed onto their respective terminals. If flames are lifting on the burner, close the air shutter slightly.

Why do the burners on my Napoleon LEX Grill burn with a yellow flame and smell of gas?
    • S
      Sara BaileySep 3, 2025
If burners burn with a yellow flame and there is a smell of gas, it may be due to a possible spider web or other debris, or improper air shutter adjustment. Thoroughly clean the burner by removing it, referring to the general maintenance instructions. Then, open the air shutter slightly according to the combustion air adjustment instructions. This adjustment must be done by a qualified gas installer.

What causes the infrared burner on my Napoleon LEX Grill to flash back?
    • S
      Sandra BishopSep 6, 2025
If the infrared burner flashes back (makes a loud 'whoosh' sound, followed by a continuous blow-torch type sound and grows dim), it may be caused by ceramic tiles overloaded with grease drippings and build-up, clogged ports, overheating due to inadequate ventilation, a cracked ceramic tile, or a leaking gasket surrounding the ceramic tile. Turn the burner off and allow it to cool for at least two minutes. Relight the burner and burn on high for at least five minutes or until the ceramic tiles are evenly glowing red. Ensure that no more than 75% of the grill surface is covered by objects or accessories. Allow the burner to cool and inspect very closely for cracks. If any cracks are found, contact your authorized Napoleon dealer to order a replacement burner assembly.

Why are the flames lifting away from the burner on my Napoleon Grill?
    • K
      Kristin BennettSep 9, 2025
If flames lift away from the burner, accompanied by the smell of gas, and possibly difficulties in lighting, it is likely due to improper air shutter adjustment. Close the air shutter slightly according to the combustion air adjustment instructions. This must be done by a qualified gas installer.

What to do if burners will not cross light each other on my Napoleon LEX?
    • D
      David FischerSep 12, 2025
If the burners will not cross light each other, it is likely due to dirty or corroded cross light brackets. Clean or replace the brackets as needed.
