Oxidativethickening
Oilfoamingandaeration
APICJ-4oil,incombinationwithUltraLowSulfurDiesel
(ULSD)fuel[0.0015%(15ppm)maximumsulfurcontent],
isrecommendedtomaintainperformanceanddurabilityof
aftertreatmentsystemsmeeting2007andbeyonddiesel
emissionregulations.
APICI-4oilsareallowedindieselenginesthatmeetthese
regulations.UseoftheCI-4engineoilshortensDiesel
ParticulateFilter(DPF)cleaningserviceintervals.
SAEOILVISCOSITYGRADESANDTEMPERATURE
RANGES
TheSocietyofAutomotiveEngineers(SAE)denesoilviscosity
(thickness)bygrade.Coldertemperaturesrequirelowergrade
oilsforcorrectowduringstarting.Highertemperaturesrequire
highergradeoilsforsatisfactorylubrication.
Anoilpanandblockcoolantheaterisrequiredfor
temperaturesbelow-12°C(10°F).
Forheavydutydrivingortrailertowing,higheroilgrades
15W-40and5W-40oilsarerequired,iftemperaturesare
over10°C(50°F).
