SECTION6–LONGTERMSTORAGE
GeneralInformation
Tomaintainwarrantycoverage,enginesintendedtobetaken
outofserviceorstored30daysorlongerrequirethefollowing
procedures.theseproceduresarealsorecommendedfor
enginesoutsideofwarrantytoassuremaximumenginelife:
•Maintaina“Full”fueltankwiththeadditionofdiesel
fuelstabilizertominimizemicrobialgrowthwithinthe
fuelsystem.Runenginelongenoughtoallowthefuel
stabilizertoentertheentirefuelsystem.Iftheengineis
utilizedinamobileapplicationdrivevehicletomixthe
stabilizerinthefueltank.
•Beforestoragereplaceenginefuellter(s)anddrainall
waterseparatorsofanywater.
•Every30daysorless,runengineuntilfulloperating
temperaturehasbeenmaintained.
•Beforestorage,changetheengineoilandlterwith
theappropriateengineoilforconditionstheenginewill
experienceduringstorage.
•Coverairintakeductstopreventmoistureanddebris
intrusionduringstorage.
•Coververticalexhauststack.
•Checkthebatterychargeandrechargeifneeded.
Disconnectthebatterycablesbetweenbatteries
andbetweenthebatteriesandvehicle.Iffreezing
temperaturesareexpected,removebatteriesandstore
inanareawithtemperatureabovefreezing.Ifbattery
removalisnotrequired(warmclimate),maintainthe
batterychargeevery30days.
•Testthecoolingsystem,additivelevelsandcoolant
freezeprotection.Coolantfreezeprotectionmustbe
setbelowthecoldestanticipatedtemperatureduring
storage.
