ENGINE LUBRICATING OIL
New engines require a running-in period of 200 hours. During this period the dumper should
be driven as normal, there is no special need for lower revs, it is OK to drive it a maximum
revs but the oil level should be checked twice a day. The dumper should be used in a normal
work cycle immediately. Glazing of the piston cylinder bores, resulting in excessive oil
consumption, could occur if the engine is gently run in. Under no circumstance should the
engine be allowed to idle for extended periods (e.g. warming up without load)
NC recommend grade of API CI4 (however a minimum of API CF grade can be used). NC
do not recommend the use of high sulphur diesel fuels, if these are used an engine oil with a
TBN (Total Base Number) of 10 or greater must be used. Superior grades of oil may be
more appropriate for heavy duty applications (such as sustained high loads operating at
elevated temperatures).
Depending on the ambient temperature the following viscosity classes of oil may be used
NC recommend Fuchs Lubricants, the dumper comes pre-filled with SAE 15W40 oil
If you are in any doubt as to the correct grade of oil to use contact NC
ENGINE OIL CAPACITY
