For FAS2040 and FAS2050 systems, Data ONTAP 7.3.4 or later 7.x
release.
◦ Data ONTAP 8.0.2P3 or later 8.x release.
For FAS2040 systems, Data ONTAP 8.0.2 or later 8.x release.
• Merged the DS4243 Installation and Service Guide and DS2246 Installation
and Service Guide contents into this SAS shelf guide, which addresses all of
the SAS disk shelves.
Note: The past feature update records from the DS4243 and DS2246
guides are captured below.
• Updated the minimum supported Data ONTAP releases for the DS4243 and
DS2246 disk shelves (to address fixed in Bug ID 509721 and 525950).
The minimum supported Data ONTAP releases are the same for DS2246,
DS4243, and DS4246 disk shelves.

not supported on any 8.x releases.
• Updated the ACP firmware verification procedure to include steps for
updating out-of-date ACP firmware.

For new storage system installations and add-on disk shelves to existing storage
systems, the DS2246 disk shelf is supported on the following releases:
• Data ONTAP 7.x releases: Data ONTAP 7.3.3P2 or later, except FAS2040
and FAS2050 systems, 7.3.4, or later.
• Data ONTAP 8.x releases: Data ONTAP 8.0P1 or later, except FAS2040 and
FAS2050 systems, 8.0.1 or later.
