port 4 on the router. By default, the Ethernet LAN 4 port functions as a regular LAN port,
but you change the function of the Ethernet LAN port 4 to a second WAN port in an
Internet link aggregation setup. For more information, see Get multi-gigabit Internet
with Internet port aggregation on page 35.
Get multi-gigabit Internet with Internet port
aggregation
If your ISP offers Internet speeds faster than 1 Gbps, your modem does not provide a
high-speed or multi-gigabit port, but your modem does support link aggregation, you
can get multi-gigabit Internet with your router by setting up Internet port aggregation.
You can aggregate the Internet port and Ethernet LAN port 4 on the router.
NOTE: For information about a different type of aggregation, which is port
aggregation to a LAN device, see Manage Ethernet LAN port aggregation to a
LAN device on page 99.
To set up Internet port aggregation, you need the following:
•
A service provider that offers an Internet speed that’s over 1 Gbps.
•
A modem that support both an Internet speed that’s over 1 Gbps and two Ethernet
ports that support static Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), for example, the
NETGEAR Nighthawk Multi-Gig Cable Modem, model CM1200.
To set up Internet port aggregation:
1. Set up Internet port aggregation on your modem.
For information about how to set up Internet port aggregation on your modem, see
