The Nets SmartPOS N950 is a next-generation Android SmartPOS solution designed for merchants and covers use cases for payment terminals. It is a portable smart payment terminal equipped with a battery, touchscreen, receipt printer, and a pre-activated 4G subscription. The N950 is a multi-functional terminal that offers various configurations and accessories.
Function Description
The N950 serves as a comprehensive payment terminal, supporting various transaction types and payment methods. It comes with pre-configured applications, including the Npay app, which is a payment solution from Nets & Nexi Group, and a Terminal app for managing payments securely.
The Npay app facilitates payments and provides a gateway that processes transactions securely. It allows users to set up their terminal, view daily settlements, and generate reports. The Terminal app enables secure collection of payments, processing of purchase receipts, and management of transactions. It supports both physical card transactions (insert/tap/swipe) and manual entry of card details. The app also provides a transaction overview, allowing users to view all transactions made on the terminal within a specified time window, including payments, re-print receipts, make refunds, cancel payments, and more.
The device supports multiple payment methods:
- NFC (contactless) transactions: Customers can bring their payment card to the RFID reader at the top of the terminal. The LCD screen indicates the transaction status.
- Chip transactions: Users insert the chip card into the terminal, and the display shows the slot with its contact surface. The terminal then processes the payment.
- Magnetic stripe transactions: Users swipe the card along the slot with the magnetic stripe (band) facing the terminal. The swiping speed and movement should be uniform to ensure reliable card reading. The card can be read from both top and bottom.
The N950 also supports various transaction management features:
- Printing the receipt: After a transaction, users can print the receipt by pressing the home icon and selecting the "Transactions" application. They can view their transactions in a list, click on a transaction to reprint, or choose to re-print/resend the receipt.
- Cancel/Void: Transactions can be canceled or voided from the terminal. Users select the transaction from the list, confirm the voiding option, and the transaction status changes to 'Voided'. Payments that have been processed over 24 hours cannot be voided but can be refunded.
- Refunds: Refunds can be initiated from the terminal. Users select the transaction, choose the refund option, and enter the amount to be refunded. For partial refunds, the amount can be adjusted. The refund can be confirmed by tapping the appropriate button on the screen.
- Printing reports: The terminal allows printing of various reports, including 'Print report', 'Today', and 'Yesterday' reports. Daily reports are printed automatically at the end of the day.
- Settlement batches: Payments are collected daily and sent to the acquirer automatically every night. Settlement batches can be viewed in MyNets (mynets.eu/portal) and the MyPayments app.

Maintenance Features
- Keeping the terminal clean & hygienic: To clean the terminal, avoid spraying disinfectant directly onto the surfaces. Use 70% isopropyl alcohol on a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use components that may only be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth that is slightly infused with soap. Avoid strong chemicals like hydrogen peroxide, thinner, trichloroethylene, or ketone-based solvents, glycol ether, or thymol-based agents, detergents, or abrasive products.
- Payment terminal battery maintenance: The battery should be charged for the first time of use. Do not remove the battery to avoid damage to the battery and hardware. When charging, use the terminal's charger. Using other chargers may damage the battery.
- Swap service: If a terminal is defective, users can call Customer Service for assistance. Depending on the nature of the defect and your agreement, Nets can either receive a new terminal from Nets or assistance from customer service. If receiving a new terminal, a return label will be sent, and the package will be delivered to PostNord. If a terminal is defective, it shall not be sent for repair until the error has been reported to Nets Customer Service.
- Terminations: When terminating the lease of a Nets terminal, the terminal must not be returned to Nets until the existing lease agreement has been terminated. Until the termination notice has been received by Nets, the agreement will continue to run. Users will be issued a cancellation form to ensure that the terminal is returned within the completion period. The return label will be sent via email when the termination is completed. Users pack the terminals securely and separately, including all associated cables and equipment. The return label is received from Nets and must be used when returning payment terminals. The package is then delivered to a PostNord drop-off station for returning them to the local Nets warehouse.
- Safety: The payment terminal and its software comply with the requirements of the card industry. No plain text card numbers are stored in the payment terminal, and it is not possible to enter the card number manually on the payment terminal. It is not possible to bypass the PIN request. The service is run and monitored 24/7.
- Customer service: For any issues or questions concerning the terminal, users can check local support resources at Nets.eu.
