Sensor
Cleaning
The camera's image sensor
is
fitted with a low-pass filter
to
prevent
moire.
Each
time
it
is
turned on or off, the camera vibrates the low-pass
filter
to
remove dust (note that operating camera controls before clean-
ing
is
complete interrupts this process, and
that
image sensor cleaning
may be temporarily disabled
if
the camera
is
turned on and
off
several
times in succession). Dust
not
removed by this method may appear in
images recorded
with
the camera, in which
case
you should
have
the
filter cleaned by Nikon-authorized service personnel.

Servicing
the
Camera
and
Accessories
The camera
is
a precision device and requires regular servicing. Nikon
recommends that the camera be inspected by the original retailer or
Nikon-authorized service representative once every one
to
two
years,
and
that
it
be serviced once every three
to
five
years
(note that
fees
apply
to
these services). Frequent inspection and servicing
are
particu-
larly recommended
if
the camera
is
used professionally. Any
accesso-
ries regularly used with the camera, such
as
lenses or optional flash
units, should be included when the camera
is
inspected or serviced.
