If menus are displayed, press the d button. Check if the battery is exhausted. If using Night portrait mode or HDR in Backlighting, raise the flash. If the flash indicator is blinking, wait for the flash to charge.

  Your Nikon Digital Camera might turn off without warning because the battery is exhausted, or the camera has turned off automatically to save power. It can also happen if the Charging AC Adapter is connected while the camera is on, the USB cable connecting it to a computer or printer is disconnected, the inside of the camera has become hot, or the camera and battery are too cold. Reconnect the USB cable and leave the camera off until the inside has cooled, then try turning it on again.

Also, the monitor and viewfinder cannot be used simultaneously, or the camera may be connected to a computer via USB, or to a TV via A/V or HDMI cable, or interval timer shooting is in progress. Press the x button to alternate between displays.
