Interface Modules (WAN)

Interface Modules are WAN modules specifically designed to enhance the WAN
capabilities of the unit. This chapter describes the following interface modules
supported on the Ethernet Base Module:
WAN Serial Interface Module on page 7-2
56 kbps CSU/DSU Interface Module on page 7-2
T1 CSU/DSU Interface Module on page 7-3
E1 CSU/DSU Interface Module on page 7-4
ISDN TA U Interface Module on page 7-6
ISDN TA S/T Interface Module on page 7-7
Installing an Interface Module
1. Slide the interface module gently into the slot labeled Port 2 or Port 3
on the lower left end of the Ethernet Base Module back panel. Make
sure the component side of the module is down.
2. Ensure that the module is pushed all the way in so it mates with the
connector at the back of the slot.
3. Secure the module with the two Phillips screws supplied.

Caution:

The interface module must not be inserted into, or removed from
the unit, while the unit is operating. This could cause damage to
the unit or cause interruption of network services or both.
