Pitch Rate Calculator
The Pitch Rate Calculator (Fig. 22) is accessible through the gray
arrow, that is shown in the concentration results screen. The
concentration (and viability) measurements are used to calculate
the amount of yeast needed for a new brewing process. When
concentration and viability have been determined, only the living
yeast cells are taken into account for the calculation. If only the
concentration was determined, all cells are considered alive and
included in the calculation.

The following information must be added for a complete pitch rate
calculation:
Wort volume of the new brewing process in hectoliters
Desired final concentration in millions of cells/ml. This can
either be entered manually or it will be automatically
determined via an extended calculation. The extended
calculation is opened via the small black arrow, it will ask for
° P (degree Plato) of the wort and a pitch rate factor so that
the end desired yeast concentration can be calculated.
