Safe use of neutral electrodes
Functionality of the baby neutral electrode setting
A current ow of 350 mA serves as an indicator that the heating between the neutral
electrode for newborns (patient weight less than 5 kg) and the baby’s skin is getting to high.
At this stage the user is warned by an alarm tone and the following error message:
If it is necessary to continue with the procedure, the user must observe the instructions that
are stated within the error message:
‒ Minimize the activation time, e.g. by using short activation intervals and make pauses
between the activation intervals.
‒ Reduce the power and effect settings or select another mode.
The error message erases when the user re-activates HF output or taps [OK]. However, the
user still must pay special attention to the heating between the neutral electrode and the
baby’s skin.
As soon as the limit of 350 mA is reached again, the warning comes up again.
The default setting for the baby neutral electrode function is [OFF].
