Recording from another Onkyo System (Synchro Recording)
Synchro Recording is useful when you want to
record from an external Onkyo component to
the FR-X7A. You can also use this function to
record from a CD to an MD on the unit while
selecting the desired tracks for recording.
The following operations are available if you connect
an optional Onkyo casette tape deck to the FR-X7A.
Synchro Recording from the unit’s CD to the ste-
reo cassette tape deck
Synchro Recording from the unit’s MD to the ste-
reo cassette tape deck
Synchro Recording from the stereo cassette tape
deck to the MD unit.
For more information on Synchro recording from a CD
or MD to a cassette tape, refer to the instruction man-
ual for the cassette tape deck.
This section explains how to perform Synchro recording from a cassette tape deck to an MD in the FR-X7A.

Set up the recording source (in this example, a
cassette tape) and insert an MD.
Check the available recording time on the MD.

Press REC to set the recorder in recording
Standby mode.

Play the recording source (in this example, a cas-
sette tape).
The recording starts.
Cancelling Synchro recording
Stop playback of the recording source. The MD recorder
enters Record Standby mode.
Checking the recorded data
After recording is complete, press the MD recorder’s
button or the remote controller’s button for MD. Playback
starts from the top of the recording.
Pausing and selecting a track
When you pause or stop the
source, the MD recorder enters
Record Standby mode. Select a
track, then play the source again.
The MD recording resumes. Note
that when you press the MD
recorder’s button, the MD
recorder stops, but the source
(cassette tape deck) continues
playback.
Numbering the tracks
Press REC at the point at
which you wish to assign a track
number. If the interval between
two presses of REC is shorter
than four seconds, the tracks may
not be numbered.
