∫ Functions that work automatically

The following functions are performed automatically to allow the camera to make the optimal
settings.

∫ Auto Focus, Face/Eye Detection, and Face Recognition
The Auto Focus Mode is automatically set to [Å¡]. If you touch the subject, the AF tracking
function will work. The AF tracking function will also work if you press 2 and then press
the shutter button halfway.

When [ ], [ ], or [ ] is set, an eye closer to the camera will be in
focus, while the exposure will be optimized for the face.
In Intelligent Auto Plus Mode or Intelligent Auto Mode, you cannot change
the eye in focus. ([Face/Eye Detection])
• During AF Tracking, Scene Detection does not work until the subject is
locked.
• When [Face Recog.] is set to [ON], and the face similar to the registered face is detected, [R] is
displayed in the top right of [ ], [ ] and [ ].
∫ About the flash
When the external flash is turned off, it will be set to [Å’]; when it is turned on, it will be set
to [ ] (Auto).
When the external flash is turned on, the camera automatically sets the flash to [ ], [ ]
(Auto Red-Eye Reduction), [ ] or [ ], depending on the type and brightness of the
subject.

For information on how to attach an external flash, refer to P203.
• When [ ] or [ ] is set, Red-Eye Removal is enabled.
• Shutter speed will be slower during [ ] or [ ].
• Remove the external flash when not taking pictures with it.
