WARNING: If you do not follow these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion may result
causing property damage, personal injury, or loss of life.
A. This appliance has pilotswhich must be lightedby hand.When
lighting the pilots, follow these instructions exactly.
B. BEFORE OPERATINGsmel_all around the appliance area for
gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor because some gas is
heavierthan air and will settleon the floor.
WHATTO DO IFYOU SMELL GAS
• Do not try to light any appliance.
• Do not touch any electric switch; do not use any phone in
your building.
• Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor's phone.
Followthe gas supplier's instructions.

• Ifyoucannotreachyourgassupplier,callthefiredepartment.
Use only your hand to push in or turn the gas control knob.
Never use tools. If the knob will not push in or turn by hand,
don't try to repair it, call a qualifiedservice technician. Forceor
attempted repair may resultin a fire or explosion.
Donot use thisapplianceif anyparthasbeenunderwater.
Immediatelycall a qualifiedservicetechnicianto inspectthe
applianceandto replaceanypartofthecontrolsystemandany
gascontrolwhichhasbeenunderwater.
LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. STOP!Read the safety information aboveon thispage.
2. Setthe thermostatto lowestsetting.
3.Turn off all electric power to the appliance.
4. If the gascontrol assemblyis not visible, removecontrolaccess
panel,
5. g the manualshut-off lever and pilot cock are not in the "OFF"
position,turnbothe,ockwiseto"OFF" ,o'o

6.Waitfive (5) minutes to clear out any gas. If Nu smell gas,
includingnear the floor.If yousmell gas, STOP!Follow"B"in the
safety informationaboveon this page.If you don't smell gas, go
to the next step.

9. Turnthe pilot cockhandle counterclockwise _ to"ON."
10. Push inred reset buttonon right hand pilot valve all theway and
hold in. Immediately light the right hand pilot with a match.
Continueto holdthe resetbutton in forabout one (1) minuteafter
the pilot is lit. Release button and it will pop back up, Pilot
should remain lit. If it goes out, repeat steps 5through10.

Repeatabovelightingprocedurewith lefthandpilotvalveand
lefthandpilot.
• Ifeitherbuttondoesnotpopupwhenreleased,stopand
immediatelycallyourservicetechnicianor gassupplier.
• Ifthepilotswill notstaylitafterseveraltries,turnthepilot
cockhandleto "OFF"andcallyourservicetechnicianor
gassupplier.
12. Replace pilotaccess panel,if applicable.
7.Removethe pilotaccesspanel,if supplied,locatedbelowand
behindthegasvalvedirectlyaboveburnertubes.
8.Findpilots-- followmetaltubefromeachpilotvalve.Eachpilot
isbetweentwoburnertubes.

Turnmanual shut-offlevercountercloekwise _ to"ON."
Replace controlaccess panel,ifapplicable.
Turnon all electric powerto the appliance.
Set thermostatto desired setting.
TO TURN OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE
1,Set the thermostat to lowest setting.
2. Turnoff all electric powertothe appliance ifservice is to be per-
formed.
3. Ifthegascontrolassemblyisnotvisible,removecontrolaccess
panel.
4. Turn the pilot cockand the manual shut-off leverclockwise
to"OFF."
5. Replace control accesspanel, ifapplicable.
