5.3.7. Estimated capacity
NOTE
The system capacity is displayed in kilograms equivalent CaCO3 of hardness removed before a
regeneration is necessary when programmed in metric units mode.
NOTE
Value is derived from the system’s resin volume input and salt amount input and must be fine tuned
for optimal operation.
Set the estimated capacity, in kg as CaCO
3
, following the following table.
5.3.8. Hardness
Set water hardness to treat at installation site in mg/L as CaCO
3
. Program the value of inlet hardness taken away from expected
residual hardness. For example, if inlet hardness is 300 mg/L as CaCO
3
and residual hardness is set to 100 mg/L as CaCO
3
, set
300-100=200 mg/L as CaCO
3
.
NOTE
Make sure the residual hardness set with the mixing screw will correspond to the residual hardness
value used at this programming step.
6 . Startup
1. Fill the brine tank in the cabinet with salt.
2. Adjust the safety brine valve in the brine well to make sure the overflow elbow is installed above the float level.
3. After the softener has been running a few minutes in service, proceed to hardness test on outlet water to make sure the
water is treated as per requirements, and eventually adjust the mixing device accordingly.
NOTE
Pentair advise to set a residual hardness between 50 and 100 mg/L of CaC0
3
