7 Configuration
7.1 Replacement of Mechanics
PiezoWalk® drives and the corresponding modules of the E-711/E-712 system do not support ID-chip
functionality. When you replace a PiezoWalk® mechanics with a new unit, it may be necessary to adjust the
controller parameters, e.g. calibration and servo-control settings.
To do this, you can use the Device Parameter Configuration window of PIMikroMove. It is strongly recommended
to save the current parameter values of the E-711/E-712 system to a file on the PC before you make any changes.
This way the original settings can be restored if the new parameter settings will not prove satisfactory.
7.2 Parameter Adjustment
Normally, your E-711/E-712 system comes preconfigured.
CAUTION
Incorrect parameter values may lead to improper operation or damage to your hardware. PI strongly
recommends to change the preset parameter values only after consultation with the PI customer service
department.
If you nevertheless want to change parameters regarding the performance of a PiezoWalk® drive, you can do this
using the SPA or SEP commands or via the Device Parameter Configuration window of PIMikroMove, with the
corresponding parameter groups selected.
7.2.1 Selection of the PiezoWalk® Drive Type
With the PiezoWalk Type parameter (ID 0x07011d00), you can select the type of PiezoWalk® drive connected to
the PiezoWalk channel. The following parameter values are possible:
1 = NEXLINE® drive
2 = NEXACT® drive (required also for PICMAWalk drives)
The selection determines the piezo-voltage-changing sequence for shearing and clamping.
CAUTION
Incorrect selection of the PiezoWalk® drive type leads to improper operation out of specification.
The NEXACT Drive Weight parameter (ID 0x07011e00) is only used with NEXACT® and PICMAWalk drives
(PiezoWalk Type is set to 2). All other PiezoWalk-related parameters are valid for all drive types (NEXLINE®,
NEXACT®, PICMAWalk).
