4.10 LANDING
CAUTION: Landings should be made with full flaps. Glideslope should be
controlled with throttle. Landings with less than full flaps are recommended
in crosswinds or if the flaps fail to deploy, or to extend the aircraft’s glide
distance due to engine malfunction.
NOTE: For flapless approach and landing increase speeds by 5 kts.
NOTE: Flapless landings are permitted only during day-time operations.
NOTE: Airbrakes can be used for landing. See SPOH-161-00-41-050 Electric
airbrakes POH supplement - for additional information about use, setting and
testing.
Normal Landing
Normal landings are made with full flaps and airbrakes with power on or idle.
Surface winds and air turbulence are usually the primary factors in determin-
ing the most comfortable approach speeds (60 - 65 KIAS).
Actual touchdown should be made with power idle and on the main wheels
first to reduce the landing speed and subsequent need for braking. Gently
lower the nose wheel to the runway after airplane speed has diminished.
This is especially important for rough or soft field landings.
