15. Remove the rear output gear (L) and chain (K), by
pulling the assembly straight upward.

16. Remove the screws that secure the oil deflector
(M) with a T20 hex socket or driver.

17. Remove the screws that secure the output gear
(N) with a T27 hex socket or driver.

18. Remove the shift drum (O) from the gearcase by
moving the drum up and to the right to clear the
shift shaft.

19. Remove the output gear (M) and gear cluster
assembly from the gearcase by pulling both
assemblies straight up. Place the gear cluster
assembly on a clean surface for inspection.
