  If your Polaris Winch isn't operating, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the contactor is receiving power by turning the vehicle key on. Next, verify that the wireless remote is powered on. Also, inspect the connections between components to ensure they are in the correct order. If the connections aren't as shown in the diagrams, the system might not function correctly. Finally, check the fusebox for the 10A accessory circuit and voltage, especially on the orange wires near the steering post, to ensure the keyed power circuit is properly powered.

  If your Polaris Winch makes noise but the rope doesn't move, the contactor may be powered, but not the winch itself. If you hear a clicking sound when pressing the winch control but the winch remains silent, inspect the connections between the winch and the contactor. Also, verify that the winch is properly engaged in gear. If the winch is in gear and still doesn't move, it's recommended to have a dealer inspect it.

  If your Polaris Winch won't change gears, it's possible the rope is still under load. Ensure there's no tension on the rope and that it's not bunched up or bound inside the spool area. Try operating the winch briefly and then attempt to shift gears again.
