Starting the Engine
Starting a Wa rm Engine
Warm engines do n o t normally require t h e use of the choke. Overuse of
the choke can cause the spark plug t o become wet fouled.
1. Place th e transmission in n eutral and move the vehicle t o a level
surface.
2. Lock the parking brake.
3. Sit in the driver’s seat and fasten the seat belt.
4. Turn the ignition key to START.
5. If the engine has cooled and does not readily start, intermittent use
of the choke knob (pull ed hal f way out) may be necessary.
6. If the engine is over-choked when warm, depress the t hrottle lever
fully while cranking to aid in starting.
7. Release the throttle lever immediately after the engine starts.
NOTE: If the engine does not start and all conditions are favorable,
change the spark plug.
Stopping the Engine
1. Release the throttle pedal completely and brake to a complete stop.
2. Put the gear shift lever into neutral.
3. Apply the parking brake.
WARNING
A rolling vehicle can cause property damage and serious injury.
Always apply the parking brake after stopping the engine.
