Filter Systems (RANGER 4X4, 6X6)
Air Filter
Always change the air filter at the intervals outlined in the P eriodic
Maintenance Chart beginning on page 54.
1. Lift the cargo box to access the
air box.
2. Remove t h e air box cover and
inspect the gasket. It sh ould
adhere tightly t o the cover and
seal all the way around.
3. Remove the air filter (1).
4. Do not attempt to clean the main
element. Install a new air filter.
NOTE: Apply a small amount of
general purpose grease to
the sealing edges of the
filter before installing.
5. Inspect the air box for oil or water deposits. If present, drain them
into a su itable container.
NOTE: Service the air f ilter more frequently if the vehicle is operated
in wet conditions or at high throttle openings for ext ended
periods.
