MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Engine Oil
Oil C heck (RANGER TM)
1. Position the vehicle on a level
surface.
2. Start t he engine and let it idl e for
20-30 seconds.
3. Stop the engine and remove the
seat as described on page 29.
Remove t h e service panel (1) b y
pulling upward.
4. Remove the dipsti ck (2) and wipe
it d ry with a clean cloth.
5. Replace the dipstick and seat it
completely.
6. Remove the dipstick and check to see
that the oil level is between the FULL
(3) and ADD (4) marks. Add oil
through the oil filler hole (5) as needed.
Do not overfill.
NOTE: A rising oil level between checks
in cool weather driving can indicate
moisture collecting in the oil reservoir.
If the oil level is over the full mark,
change the oil.
Oil and Filter Change (RANGER TM)
1. Position the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Run the engine two to three minutes until
warm, then stop the engine.
3. Clean the area around the drain p l u g (6) at the bot t o m of the
engine. The plug is accessible through the access hole in the
bottom of the skid plate.
CAUTIO N
Hot oil can cause serious burns. Do not allow hot oil to come into
contact with skin.
4. Place a drain pan beneath the engine and remove the drain pl u g .
Allow the oi l to drain completely.
