3. Drain the engine oil and engine coolant prior to
engine removal (see Chapter 2).
4. Remove the seats and engine service panel (see
Chapter 10 – Seats, page 10.14 and Rear Service
Panel, page 10.14).
5. Disconnect the (-) negative battery cable from the
battery.
6. Remove the rear bumper and cargo box as an
assembly (see Chapter 10 – Seats, page 10.14 and
Cargo Box Assembly Removal, page 10.17).
7. Loosen the three clamps securing the intake baffle
assembly to the air box lid, inner clutch cover and
engine crankcase vent. Remove the air intake baffle
/ intake hoses / engine crankcase vent tube an
assembly as shown below.
8. Elevate the rear of the vehicle off the ground using a
suitable lift and remove the left rear wheel.
9. Remove the outer clutch cover, drive belt, drive
clutch, driven clutch and inner clutch cover (see
Chapter 6 – PVT Disassembly, page 5.8). Make note
of hose and wire routings for reassembly.
NOTE
Be sure to use the correct Drive Clutch Puller (PA-
48595) to prevent damage to crankshaft.
10. Disconnect the stator wire connector and cut the tie
strap securing the wiring to the front engine mount
bracket. Replace tie strap for engine installation.
11. Remove the CPS sensor from the stator cover on the
right-hand side of the engine
e
. Plug CPS hole with
clean shop towel. Inspect CPS O-ring and replace if
needed.
ENGINE / COOLING SYSTEM
