Overview

This document is an installation and user manual for the Poolex Silverline heat pump, designed for heating swimming pools. It provides comprehensive information on the device's function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Poolex Silverline heat pump is designed to efficiently heat swimming pool water. It operates by extracting heat from the ambient air and transferring it to the pool water, offering an energy-efficient alternative to conventional heating systems. The device is equipped with a dual antifreeze system, including a revolutionary exchanger with a patented antifreeze system and a smart monitoring system, to prevent frost damage to pipework and the pool liner without requiring the pool to be emptied in winter. It is designed for use with all types of water treatment systems, provided the treatment system (chlorine, pH, bromine, and/or salt chlorinator metering pumps) is installed after the heat pump in the hydraulic circuit. The heat pump can also servo-control a circulating pump, allowing it to operate in tandem with the heat pump to maintain water circulation and temperature monitoring even when the heat pump is on standby.

Important Technical Specifications

The Poolex Silverline series includes models ranging from MINI to 220, with varying heating capacities and power consumption.

  • Refrigerant: All models use R410A refrigerant, which is clean, efficient, and environmentally friendly.
  • Compressor: Features a reliable, high-output, leading brand rotary compressor (Toshiba, Mitsubishi, or Panasonic depending on the model).
  • Heat Exchanger: Utilizes a PVC tank and titanium heating coil, with a patented antifreeze system.
  • Evaporator: Wide hydrophilic aluminum evaporator designed for use at low temperatures.
  • Operating Temperature Range: The heat pump operates within an ambient temperature range of 5°C to 43°C (some models 7°C to 43°C). The heating temperature range is 15°C to 40°C.
  • Electrical Supply: Monophase 230V~50Hz for all listed models.
  • Sound Pressure Level: Designed to be silent, with sound pressure levels at 1m ranging from <46 dBA to <51 dBA, and at 10m from <29 dBA to <41 dBA, depending on the model.
  • Hydraulic Connection: PVC 32/38mm for MINI models, and PVC 50mm for other Silverline models.
  • Water Flow Rate: Minimum water flow rates vary from 1.75 m³/h (MINI) to 7.0 m³/h (220).
  • Pool Volume: Suitable for maximum pool volumes ranging from ≤20 m³ (MINI) to ≤100 m³ (220), assuming an in-ground private swimming pool covered with a bubble cover.
  • Dimensions and Weight: Unit dimensions (L x W x H) and weight vary significantly across models, from 765 x 310 x 490 mm and 36 kg (MINI/55) to 1067 x 405 x 692 mm and 76 kg (220).
  • Remote Control: Wired backlit LCD monitor screen.
  • Safety Features: Includes high and low pressure sensors, and a pressure gauge for monitoring refrigerant pressure. Electrical installation requires protection by a 30 mA differential switch and a suitable D-curve circuit breaker, with specific cable cross-sections recommended based on the model's maximum current.

Usage Features

The Poolex Silverline heat pump is designed for user-friendly operation with an intuitive wired remote control.

  • Operating Modes: Primarily features a heating mode to heat pool water.
  • Temperature Setting: Users can easily select the desired water temperature (15-40°C) using the remote control. The system displays both the set temperature and the current water and ambient air temperatures.
  • Clock and Timer Functions: The remote control allows users to set the system clock and program up to three different start/stop timings for the heat pump's operation. This enables automated heating schedules.
  • Servo-control of Circulating Pump: If connected, the circulating pump can be servo-controlled by the heat pump. In "Mode 0," the circulating pump runs continuously. In "Mode 1" (default), the circulating pump operates intermittently (2 minutes on, 15 minutes off by default) when the heat pump is on standby, maintaining filtration and updating the pool's actual temperature.
  • Antifreeze Protection: The system automatically activates an antifreeze program when ambient or water temperature drops below 2°C and the heat pump has been off for more than 120 minutes, running the compressor and circulating pump to reheat the water.
  • Status Values and Advanced Settings: The remote control allows checking and adjusting various system parameters, such as temperature difference for restart, compressor shutdown margin, de-icing activation/deactivation temperatures, and maximum de-icing duration. These advanced settings are primarily for experienced professionals.

Maintenance Features

The manual outlines essential maintenance procedures to ensure the heat pump's efficiency and longevity.

  • Cleaning: The casing should be cleaned with a damp cloth, avoiding harsh detergents. The evaporator at the rear requires careful cleaning with a vacuum cleaner and a soft brush.
  • Annual Maintenance: A qualified person should perform annual safety checks, including verifying electrical wiring integrity, earthing connections, and monitoring the pressure gauge and refrigerant presence.
  • Water Treatment: Maintaining the water's pH between 6.9 and 8.0 is crucial to prevent deterioration of the heat pump.
  • Filter Maintenance: Regular cleaning of the filter located upstream of the heat pump is necessary to prevent operational problems from dirt or clogging.
  • Winter Storage: For ambient temperatures below 3°C, the heat pump must be winterized. This involves disconnecting the power supply, opening By-Pass valves, closing inlet/outlet valves, unscrewing the drain plug and water pipes to drain all water, and then protecting the pump with its winter storage cover. If a circulating pump is servo-controlled, it must also be drained.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes a list of fault codes (e.g., PL, P1, P2, P7, P8, PC, E4, P9, P6, E3, E6, E8) with possible causes and recommended actions, facilitating diagnosis and repair.
  • Repairs: Repairs must only be undertaken by an authorized technical service organization using original replacement parts. The manufacturer is not responsible for damages caused by unauthorized repairs.
  • Warranty: The product comes with a 2-year warranty for defective materials and manufacturing faults, a 5-year warranty for the compressor, and a lifetime guarantee for the titanium tube heat exchanger against chemical corrosion (excluding frost damage). Warranty validation requires product registration on the manufacturer's website.
