Procedure 6.1 - Troubleshooting the Lower and Upper
Interconnect Cable
Typical symptoms associated with a defective interconnect cable is either an error 30 or no
power to the upper PCA. This procedure requires that you have a known good upper
interconnect cable, lower interconnect cable and mid-point connector.
1. Set the on/off switch in the off position.
2. If you are troubleshooting an error 30, 31 or 32 continue with step 3, otherwise see
Procedure 6.5.
3. There are three interconnect cables and two mid-point connectors between the upper and
lower PCA. Any one of the above cables or mid-point connectors could cause the error 30,
31 or 32. The cables are routed as follows: from the lower PCA to the lower end of the left
frame tube (See Diagram 7.6), from the lower end of the left frame tube the display
mounting (See Diagram 7.5) and from the display mounting to the upper PCA.
4. Remove the right rear cover and the front portion of the rear cover. Disconnect the
interconnect cable from the lower PCA. Unbolt the upper and lower ends of the left frame
tube and slide it away from the main frame only far enough to expose the cable and mid-
point connector at the lower end.
5. Bypass the cable between the lower PCA and the lower end of the frame tube with a known
good cable. Set the on/off switch in the on position and test for the error 30, 31 or 32
condition.
6. Set the on/off switch in the off position. If the error 30, 31 or 32 is still present replace the
mid-point connector and retest for the error 30, 31 or 32 condition. If the mid-point connector
does not correct the error condition, set the on/off switch in the off position and continue with
step 7.
7. Bypass the cable inside of the frame tube with a known good cable. Set the on/off switch in
the on position and test for the error 30, 31 or 32 condition.
8. Set the on/off switch in the off position. If the error 30, 31 or 32 is still present replace the
mid-point connector at the display mounting and retest for the error 30, 31 or 32 condition. If
the mid-point connector does not correct the error condition, set the on/off switch in the off
position and continue with step 9.
9. Bypass the cable between the display mounting and the upper PCA with a known good
cable. Set the on/off switch in the on position and test for the error 30, 31 or 32 condition.
10. If bypassing the interconnect cables and mid-point connectors does not correct the problem,
visually inspect the interconnect cable connectors on both the upper and lower PCA’s.
Check for damaged connector contacts.
