Frontal Clear Zones (FCZ) = 26” (660mm) with Shoulder Belt
We recommend using Shoulder and Lap Belts to reduce the possibility of head and chest impacts with vehicle
components. FCZ may not be achievable with wheelchair-seated drivers.
Recommended tiedown anchorage distances are based on common wheelchair sizes. The front to rear tiedown
distance should be assessed by projecting the recommended tiedown angles shown in Figure (1) from the
wheelchair securement points on the wheelchair onto a horizontal plane. Exceptionally large or small wheelchairs
may require anchorage spacing that diers from our recommendations.
Distances for the placement of the Upper Shoulder Belt Anchorage and/or the Shoulder Belt
Retractor will vary for dierent Occupant Restraint Systems. The section SHOULDER AND
LAPBELT INSTALLATION should be read before installing oor anchorages.
