Why my RainPoint HTV113FRF Timer plan is not executed on time?
    • W
      Whitney MayAug 26, 2025
If your RainPoint Timer plan isn't executing on time, it could be due to several reasons. Check if there are impurities in the water inlet filter, as these need to be cleared regularly to prevent clogging. Also, verify that the rainfall delay parameter is not set. Finally, ensure the timer is not in a low power state by replacing the batteries and checking that the irrigation duration/period is not set with appropriate parameters.

Why is the water flow meter inaccurate on my RainPoint HTV113FRF Timer?
    • R
      Rhonda YangAug 30, 2025
An inaccurate water flow meter on your RainPoint Timer can be caused by a tilted mounting angle; the timer needs to be installed perpendicular to the ground to avoid affecting the water count. Normal error values for water counts are ± 5%. Another possible cause is low or erratic water pressure from the tap.

Overview

This document describes the RainPoint 1-Zone Water Timer, a smart garden irrigation system designed to help users manage their watering needs efficiently and remotely. The device is part of the RainPoint Smart+ series, emphasizing water saving through intelligent control.

Function Description

The RainPoint 1-Zone Water Timer allows users to remotely control their irrigation system via Wi-Fi. It integrates a built-in flow meter with a leaking alert function, providing real-time tracking of water flow rate and enabling users to review their water consumption history. The timer supports two primary watering methods: Irrigation mode and Cycle & Soak. Users can set watering plans based on water usage, offering flexibility and precision in irrigation. For enhanced control, the device can be voice-controlled through Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. It also features the ability to monitor watering progress based on soil temperature and humidity when paired with a soil sensor, allowing for automatic start or stop of watering based on soil moisture levels. A water usage correction function is available on the app to ensure accurate data collection.

Usage Features

The device operates as a sub-device within the RainPoint Smart+ ecosystem, requiring connection to a RainPoint Smart+ hub. Once the hub is successfully connected, users can add the 1-Zone Water Timer through the RainPoint app. The connection process involves inserting 4*AA 1.5V Alkaline batteries (not included) and then long-pressing the reset button for 5 seconds until the indicator blinks red, signaling readiness for pairing. The app then guides the user through searching and connecting the device. For optimal connection, it is recommended to keep the timer and hub close to each other. If the initial connection fails, users can reset and reconnect the device. After successful connection, the app's home screen will display the last water usage value and, once plans are created, the next watering plan time.

The timer should be installed vertically on the tap to ensure accurate water flow measurement and prevent damage to the valve body. It is advised against installing the timer at an angle or horizontally. Additionally, to maintain a strong Wi-Fi connection, the timer should not be installed in an underground valve box.

The RainPoint app provides a comprehensive interface for managing the water timer. The device home page offers several key functions:

  • Setting: Accesses basic settings for the water timer.
  • Next Plan Time & Last Water Usage: Displays information about upcoming watering schedules and recent water consumption.
  • Soil Temperature & Moisture: Shows data from a paired soil sensor, providing insights into soil conditions.
  • Plan: Allows users to create and manage their watering plans.
  • Statistics: Provides a bar chart view of water usage data.
  • Irrigation Mode: Enables manual watering in irrigation mode.
  • Cycle & Soak: Activates manual watering in misting mode.

Within the basic settings, users can manage device information such as name, interface, and description. Advanced settings include:

  • Cycle & Soak: Configures the mist time and interval time for manual misting mode.
  • Default Duration Time: Sets the default watering duration for manual irrigation mode.
  • Pair the Soil Sensor: Connects the timer with a soil sensor to display soil data on the home page and activate the "Stop irrigation plan humidity" function.
  • Stop Irrigation Plan Humidity: Sets a "stop watering" value for soil moisture to prevent overwatering. Watering plans will pause if soil moisture exceeds this value and resume when it drops below.
  • Water Usage Correction: Corrects any inaccuracies in water usage collection.

Creating a new auto-watering plan involves selecting the "Plan" option and choosing a watering mode.

  • Irrigation Mode: Allows setting a basic start time, duration, and frequency for normal watering.
  • Cycle & Soak: Provides special mist time and interval periods for intermittent quick watering. Users can define the start time for their plans and choose between two ways to stop watering:
  • Duration: Sets a specific watering duration for the irrigation plan.
  • Water Usage: Sets a water consumption limit value and a limited time. The "Repeat" function allows users to set the watering frequency for their plans. Up to six plans can be created and managed, with the option to turn them on or off from the plan overview. A "Plan Calendar" is also available to check the overview of all scheduled plans.

For immediate watering needs, the device supports manual operation:

  • Irrigation Manual Mode: Users can manually turn on a temporary irrigation plan with a settable time via the "Irrigation" option on the home page.
  • Cycle & Soak Manual Mode: Users can manually activate a temporary misting plan with settable mist and interval times via the "Cycle & Soak" option. If a plan is already running or scheduled to start during manual watering, the scheduled plan will be skipped for that period.

The "Statistics" feature allows users to review their daily or monthly water usage data, providing insights into consumption patterns.

Maintenance Features

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of the RainPoint 1-Zone Water Timer, several maintenance practices are recommended:

  • Battery Replacement: If the valve fails to turn on or off, low battery could be a cause. Users should replace the batteries with fresh ones.
  • Filter Cleaning: Impurities in the water inlet can disrupt operation. Users should regularly clean the filter port to prevent blockages.
  • Proper Installation: To ensure accurate water flow measurement, the timer must be installed perpendicularly to the ground. Installing it at an angle can affect water count accuracy.
  • Winterization: During freezing temperatures, the timer should be removed from the faucet and stored indoors to prevent potential freezing damage.
  • Filter Replacement: Filters should be cleaned regularly and replaced if worn to prolong the timer's working life.

Troubleshooting tips are provided for common issues:

  • Can't turn on/off the valve: Possible causes include low battery, impurities in the water inlet, or an unstable network/delayed response. Solutions involve replacing batteries, cleaning the filter, or waiting and trying again.
  • Inaccurate water flow meter: This can be due to a tilted mounting angle or low/erratic water pressure. Solutions include ensuring perpendicular installation and understanding that normal error values for water counts are ±5%.
  • Timer can't connect: Possible causes are an unstable Wi-Fi network, long distance from the hub, or the timer not being in pairing state. Solutions include checking the Wi-Fi environment, moving closer to the hub/router, or re-pairing the timer by holding the button until the white light flashes rapidly.
  • Hub can't connect: This might be due to not using 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, an incorrect Wi-Fi password, or the distance between the sensor and hub being too far. Solutions include confirming 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, verifying the password, and staying closer to the hub during connection.
  • Plan not executed on time: Possible causes include impurities in the water inlet filter, rainfall delay parameters being set, the timer entering a low power protection state, or irrigation duration/period not being set with parameters. Solutions involve clearing inlet impurities, checking rainfall delay parameters, replacing fresh batteries, and ensuring irrigation parameters are correctly set.
