TheRaymarineT470SCandT473SCthermalcamerasincludes
amechanicalstabilizationfeature.
Themechanicalstabilizationfeatureimprovesimagestability
bycompensatingforvesselmotionandkeepingthecamera
aimedatthepointofinterest.Mechanicalstabilizationhas
twoaspects:horizontal(azimuth)andvertical(elevation).By
default,mechanicalstabilizationissettoon,whichprovidesthe
beston-the-waterperformanceparticularlywhenthevesselis
underwayandtravelingonroughwaterorinswellconditions.
Youcandisableorenablestabilizationwheneveryouwant.
Whenyouenablefullstabilization(horizontalandvertical),the
StabilizationOn(nowave)iconashes.Itdoesnotdisplay
continually,sincethisisthenormalmodeofoperation.Ifyou
disablestabilization,theStabilizationOff(wave)iconremains
onthescreentomakeyouawarethatthemotionofthevessel
canaffectthecameraperformance.Thisisnotanormalmode
ofoperation.Stabilizationisautomaticallyturnedoffwhenthe
cameraisstowed,butthesystemrestoresyoursettingwhenthe
cameraispoweredon.Youcanturnoffthehorizontal(pan)
stabilizationwhileretainingthetiltstabilizationbyenablingpoint
mode.
Enabling/Disablingstabilization
Stabilizationisenabledbydefault.Youcanenableordisable
stabilizationatanytimebyfollowingthestepsbelow.

Thermalcamerapointmode
Pointmodeisonlyapplicabletothermalcameraswhichhave
mechanicalstabilization.
Enablingpointmodeonlyhassignicancewhenstabilization
isenabled.Enablingpointmodeturnsoffthehorizontal(pan)
stabilizationwhileretainingthevertical(tilt)stabilization.This
canbehelpfulwhenyouwanttousethethermalcameraasan
aidetonavigationandkeepthecamerapointinginthesame
positionrelativetothevesselasitturns.Forexample,youmay
havestabilizationenabledandhavesetthecameratopoint
straightaheadrelativetothefrontofthevessel.Ifthevessel
isturnedatasharpangleundertheseconditions,thecamera
sensorwillnotfollowthedirectionofthevessel.Enablingpoint
modekeepsthecamerainsyncwiththevesseldirectionwhile
maintainingastableelevationposition.Whenpointmodeis
enabled,alockicondisplays.Thecamera’sazimuthposition
isnowlockedtothebase.Whenyoudisablepointmode,the
unlockicondisplaysmomentarily.Thecameraalwaysstarts
upwithpointmodedisabled.
