OPERATION
TURNING
ON
THE
SCANNER

SETTING
VOLUME
AND
SQUELCH
1.
Rotate
VOLUME
turn
clockwise
to
turn
on
the
scanner.
2.
Rotate
SQUELCH
fully
counterclockwise.
3.
Slowly
turn
SQUELCH
clockwise
until
the
hissing
stops.
Note:
To
hear
a
weak
or
distant
station,
turn
SQUELCH
counterclock¬
wise.
You
might
hear
hissing,
but
you
will
not
miss
any
transmissions.
STORING
FREQUENCIES
You
can
store
up
to
200
frequencies
into
your
scanner’s
channels.
If
you
do
not
have
a
frequency
reference
for
your
area,
use
a
limit
or
direct
search
to
find
a
transmission.

Follow
these
steps
to
manually
store
frequencies.
1.
Press
manual.
Enter
the
channel
number
you
want
to
program.
2.
Press
PROG,
vm
appears
on
the
display.
3.
Enter
a
frequency,
ensuring
you
enter
the
decimal
point
4.
Press
E
to
store
the
frequency.

Notes:
If
you
make
a
mistake
in
Step
3,
Error
appears
on
the
dis¬
play
and
the
scanner
sounds
three
beeps.
Press
clear,
then
proceed
again
from
Step
3.
Your
scanner
rounds
frequencies
down
to
the
next
valid
fre¬
quency.
For
example,
if
you
enter
151.473,
the
scanner
accepts
this
as
151.470.

epeat
Steps
1-4
to
program
more
channels.
