TYPICAL DIESEL FUEL TRANSFER PUMP (46
SC ONLY)
A diesel fuel transfer pump is available to equalize and
to balance fuel supply. The transfer pump switching
mechanism is located at the helm, while the pump itself
is normally found on the forward engine rewall. Hoses
and pickup tubes located in the fuel tank permit the fuel
to travel between the tanks. One hose is always drawing
and the other hose is lling when the transfer switch is
enerigized.
The pump utilizes a three position, center off style switch.
Simply press the transfer switch located at the helm toward
the fuel tank you want to add the fuel. During the cruise,
monitor the fuel gauges until the tanks are equalized. The
system only requires periodic inspection of hose clamps
for tightness.
Note: You may nd this feature useful if you were stopped
and running the generator for extended periods. Since
the generator normally draws its fuel from the port fuel
tank it may show that the port tank is a bit lower than the
starboard tank.
Also, somethimes one engine will burn more fuel than the
other when cruising over extended periods.
