QUICKSHIFT GEARBOX (continued)
Gear control paddles 6
You can initiate gear changes
yourself using the gear control
paddles 6.
To upshift, pull the right-hand
paddle towards you without
necessarily taking your foot off the
accelerator.
To downshift, pull the left-hand
paddle towards you without
necessarily taking your foot off the
accelerator.
Downshifts which does not cause
overrevving and upshifts which do
not cause underrevving are refused
by the system.
Pull the right-hand paddle towards
you twice to enable you move up
two gears at a time (except if
underrevving would result). Pull
the left-hand paddle towards you
twice to enable you to move down
two gears at a time (except if
overrevving would result).
When you decelerate with the foot
off the pedal, the gears will
automatically drop to the low speed
limit to avoid stalling. First gear is
selected automatically below a
certain speed limit. It is possible to
hold the vehicle stationary (stop,
red light, etc.) by depressing the
brake pedal without shifting to
neutral N.
The vehicle will move off again:
- either slowly, if you release the
brake without accelerating (e.g.
when in a traffic jam),
- or quickly, if you release the brake
and accelerate.
Note: neutral and reverse cannot be
selected with the paddles. You need
to use the gear lever to shift the
vehicle into neutral or reverse.
If the engine speed is too high or too
low, the system will choose the
optimum gear.
