Why won't my Riello RL BI0 Burner start?
    • R
      Richard WebbAug 20, 2025
If the Riello Burner doesn't start, several factors could be at play. It might be due to an open limit or safety control device, which you can adjust or replace. Alternatively, the control box might be locked out, requiring a reset. Other potential causes include a tripped oil pressure switch (adjust or eliminate pressure), a tripped motor protection (reset thermal cut-out), or a lack of electrical power (close all switches and check connections). A blown flame safeguard fuse (replace it), a malfunctioning servomotor contact II (adjust cam II or replace servomotor flame safeguard terminals), a jammed pump (replace it), a defective motor command control device (replace it), a defective flame safeguard (replace it), or a defective electrical motor (replace it) could also be the reason.

What to do if Riello Burner doesn't start and locks out?
    • N
      Nathan JohnstonAug 22, 2025
If your Riello Burner doesn't start and a function lock-out occurs, it could be due to flame simulation, so replace the control box. It could also be due to a photocell short-circuit, so replace the photocell. Another cause could be a missing phase, so reset the thermal cut-out; note that the thermal cut-out trips when the third phase is re-connected.

Why does Riello Burner start and then lock out?
    • R
      Robert LesterAug 25, 2025
If the Riello Burner starts and then goes into lock-out, it might be due to a fault in the flame detection circuit, so replace the flame safeguard.

How to fix smoke in flame of Riello RL BI0 Burner?
    • L
      Lauren FaulknerAug 27, 2025
If you notice smoke in the flame (dark or yellow Bacharach) of your Riello Burner, it could be due to several reasons. There might not be enough air, so adjust the head and fan damper. The nozzle might be worn or dirty, so replace it. The nozzle filter could be clogged, so clean or replace it. The pump pressure might be erroneous, so adjust it. The flame stability disk might be dirty, loose, or deformed, so clean, tighten, or replace it. The boiler room air vents might be insufficient, so increase them. There might be too much air, so adjust the head and fan damper.

Why is my Riello Burner pump noisy?
    • S
      Shannon YoungAug 29, 2025
If the pump is noisy and the pressure is unstable in your Riello Burner, it could be due to air in the suction line, so tighten the connectors. The tank/burner height difference might be too great, so feed the burner with a loop circuit. The piping diameter might be too small, so increase it. The suction filters might be clogged, so clean them. The suction valves might be closed, so open them. Paraffin might be solidified due to low temperature, so add an additive to the light oil.

Why does my Riello RL BI0 lock out after ignition?
    • Z
      zwilsonAug 31, 2025
If the flame ignites normally but the Riello Burner locks out after the safety time, it could be due to a defective photocell or flame safeguard, so replace them. Alternatively, the photocell might be dirty, so clean it.

How to stop pulsations in Riello Burner flame?
    • D
      Daniel QuinnSep 2, 2025
If your Riello Burner experiences firing with pulsations, flame detachment (lift off), or delayed firing, it could be caused by a poorly adjusted head, so adjust it. The firing electrodes might be poorly adjusted or dirty, so adjust them. The fan air gate might be poorly adjusted with too much air, so adjust it. The nozzle might be unsuited for the burner or boiler, so consult the Nozzle Table. The nozzle might be defective, so replace it. The pump pressure might be inappropriate, so adjust it.

Why is my Riello RL BI0 Burner combustion head dirty?
    • L
      Laura HarrisSep 4, 2025
If the combustion head of your Riello Burner is dirty, it could be due to a dirty nozzle or filter, so replace the nozzle. The nozzle delivery or angle might be unsuitable, so see recommended nozzles. The nozzle might be loose, so tighten it. There might be impurities on the flame stability disk, so clean it. The head adjustment might be wrong, or there might not be enough air, so adjust the head and open the air damper. The blast tube length might be unsuited to the boiler, so contact the boiler manufacturer.

Why does Riello RL BI0 stop at maximum air damper?
    • S
      Sheena WilliamsSep 6, 2025
If the Riello Burner starts but stops at the maximum air damper setting, it could be because contact I of the servomotor does not operate, so adjust cam I or replace the servomotor flame safeguard terminals.

Why does Riello RL BI0 stay in pre-purge?
    • V
      Vincent FloresSep 8, 2025
If the Riello Burner remains in the pre-purging phase, it could be because contact III of the servomotor does not operate, so adjust cam III or replace the servomotor flame safeguard terminals.
