An
exciting current is supplied from the
AVR
to
the rotor.
The brushes are made
of
carbon and the brush-holders of

plastic. It is necessary to keep the contact pressure between
the brushes and slip rings within specific limits. Therefore,
care must be taken about brush length. (See
