Risk of instrument damage due to insufficient airflow in a rack
If you mount several instruments in a rack, you need an efficient ventilation
concept to ensure that the instruments do not overheat. Insufficient airflow
for a longer period can disturb the operation and even cause damage.
3.3 Starting the Instrument
Risk of injury
Connect the oscilloscope to an outlet that has a ground contact.
If grounding is not ensured by the mains system, ground the oscilloscope
using the protective earth conductor on the front panel and an appropriate
cable.
Do not use an isolating transformer to connect the oscilloscope to the AC
power supply.
3.3.1 Powering On and Off
The R&S RTP can be used with different AC power voltages and adapts itself
automatically to it.
The instrument has a C20 connector. A list of appropriate power cables is given in
the user manual. Refer to the data sheet for the requirements of voltage and fre-
quency.
To power on
1. Connect the power cable to the AC power connector on the rear panel of the
R&S RTP.
2. Connect the power cable to the socket outlet.
3. Switch the main power switch at the rear of the instrument to position I.
The power key on the front panel lights up.
