Warning : Identifies hazardous conditions and actions that could cause
BODILY HARM or DEATH
Caution : Identifies conditions and actions that could DAMAGE the
meter or equipment under test.
: Fuse.
Terms :
CAT Level : Over Voltage Category Level defines at which circuit level masure-
ments may be safely made. Different category circuits have different high-voltage
transients.
PER IEC 1010 OVERVOLTAGE INSTALLATION CATEGORY OVERVOLTAGE
CATEGORY
Equipment of OVERVOLTAGE CATEGORY is equipment for connection to
circuits in which measurements are taken to limit the transient overvoltage to an
appropriate low level. Note examples include protected electronic circuits.
OVERVOLTAGE CATEGORY
Equipment of OVERVOLTAGE CATEGORY is energy consuming equipment
to be supplied from a fixed installation.
OVERVOLTAGE CATEGORY
Equipment of OVERVOLTAGE CATEGORY is equipment in fixed installa-
tions. Note examples include switches in a fixed installation and some equipment
for industrial use with permanent connection to the fixed installation.
OVERVOLTAGE CATEGORY
Equipment of OVERVOLTAGE CATRGORY is for use at the origin of the
installations. Note examples include electricity meters and primary over-current
protection equipment.
