What to do if my Ryobi Chainsaw engine will not start?
    • R
      Rebecca JordanAug 5, 2025
If your Ryobi Chainsaw engine won't start, it could be due to a cracked or damaged spark plug. Replace it with a new one. If that doesn't work, the engine might be flooded. To fix this, turn off the ignition switch and remove the spark plug. Move the choke lever to the run position and pull the starter cord 15 to 20 times to clear excess fuel. Clean and reinstall the spark plug. Then, set the ignition switch to run, push and fully release the primer bulb 10 times, and pull the starter cord three times with the choke lever at run. If it still doesn't start, move the choke lever to choke and repeat the normal starting procedure. If all else fails, try again with a new spark plug.

What to do if my Ryobi RCS4640C Chainsaw starts but will not accelerate properly?
    • J
      jimmy44Aug 10, 2025
If your Ryobi Chainsaw engine starts but won't accelerate properly, first check for lubricating function. Run the saw at half throttle for 30 to 45 seconds, then stop it and check if lubricant is dripping from the guide bar. If lubricant is present, the chain may be dull or the bar may be damaged. If there's no lubricant, contact a Ryobi service dealer.

Why does my Ryobi Chainsaw engine not reach full speed and emits smoke?
    • V
      vwilliamsonAug 15, 2025
If your Ryobi Chainsaw engine does not reach full speed and/or emits excessive smoke, it could be due to several reasons. First, ensure you are using fresh fuel and the correct 2-stroke lubricant mix ratio. Also, the air filter or spark arrester screen might be dirty. In this case you should clean them. If the problem persists, it's possible that the carburetor requires adjustment, which should be done by a Ryobi service dealer.

How to fix Ryobi Chainsaw that starts but will not idle?
    • R
      Rachel HallAug 19, 2025
If your Ryobi Chainsaw starts, runs, and accelerates but will not idle, you can try adjusting the idling speed screw “T”. Turn it clockwise to increase the idling speed. If the chain turns at idle, turn the screw anticlockwise to decrease the speed. Remember to wear protective equipment and follow all safety instructions.

Why is my Ryobi RCS4640C Chainsaw bar and chain running hot and smoking?
    • R
      Ryan ShieldsAug 26, 2025
If the bar and chain of your Ryobi Chainsaw are running hot and smoking, first, ensure that the chain brake is released. Also, check the chain tension, as it might be too tight. Inspect the guide bar and chain for any damage.

What to do if my Ryobi RCS4640C Chainsaw chain is not rotating?
    • A
      Ann AguilarAug 30, 2025
If your Ryobi Chainsaw starts, runs, but the chain is not rotating, ensure the chain lubricant tank is full. The lubricant tank should be filled every time the fuel tank is filled. Also, check the chain tension to make sure it is not overtight.
