- Available options may differ depending on
the· shooting mode.
-Whenyou set the AF/MF switch onthe
lens toMF, you cannot change the focus
area.
-When you use the Face Detection
AFoptlon, the white focus area is
automatically set to focus.
-Depending on the Pi.cture Wizard· option,
the camera may not recognize the
subject's face.
- This function is not available If you have
selected Manual Focus.
- Face detection may not work when:
- The subject is too far away.
-The lighting is too bright or dark.
- The subject is not faCing the camera.
- Parts of the subjeCt's face is hidden by
sunglasses or similar objects.
- The subject makes a large facial
expression.
- The light or backlight on the subject's
face is not uniform.
- You can also set this function by pressing
[Fn] in Shooting mode.

Turn the AF lamp on to have a better auto focus in
dark places.
1 In Shooting mode, press [MENU].
2 Select 8 --+ AF Lamp.
3 Select Off or On.

When you rotate the focus ring manually, the camera
zooms in the center of the scene for easier focusing.
1 In Shooting mode, press [MENU].
2 Select @2 or e --+ MF Assist.
3 Select Enlarge.
