Will an installer wire for more than one set-top box even if I
don’t have a second, third or fourth TV?
Yes, the installer will wire for additional set-top boxes at the initial
installation if there are full intentions of using the additional set-top
boxes. There is no additional charge to do so. At this time, under
no circumstances, should the additional Max wire be hooked up to
the Max switch because it will cause problems.
Can I hook up my VCR? My DVD player?
Yes, there are ports at the back of the set-top box to plug in many
units, including a VCR and a DVD player. However, there are only
so many ports, so if you have many components you may not be
able to hook up every unit right to the set-top box.
Why did the installer leave two remote controls?
The Max Remote Control is the main unit to use since it is
programmed with shortcut keys to help in your maneuvering
around the Max Service. The Pace Remote Control could be used
as a basic back up.
Am I able to hook up a keyboard?
Yes, you are able to hook up keyboard. Connect the keyboard to
the PS/2 port on the back of the set-top box. You will need to reset
your set-top box by pressing the reset button (recessed/indented
button) located on the front of the set-top box. See your "Getting
Started with Max" Guide or the Max Help section on your TV for
further information.
What if I move?
If you are transferring your service within the same city, you can
move the Max equipment to your new residence (set-top box(es),
remote control(s), modem, and switch). The SCC ($99) will be
waived. The service connection charges still apply to move the
network access, for a field visit or facilities in place. If you are
moving to another city, please return your equipment to the
SaskTel Store within 10 days of the disconnect date.
Can a virus affect my TV?
No, a virus cannot affect the TV or the set-top box.
Can I connect cable/satellite and Max at the same time?
Yes. The customer is responsible for these hook-ups.
Can I use another brand of universal remote control?
No. The Max Remote Control provided with the set-top box is
recommended for use because of its preprogrammed short-cut
keys. Another universal remote control will not enable you to
perform the appropriate functions. Please visit a SaskTel store if
your Max Remote Control has been lost or broken. If damage is
due to customer negligence, replacement costs will be incurred.
Is a power bar required when Max is installed?
Yes, with basic Max set up (with no PC) only 2 outlets are required.
Anything extra will require a power bar.
