Does the customer own Max wire once it is installed? Do
they have to return the wire if they disconnect their Max
service?
Yes, the customer owns the Max wire once it is installed. The
customer is not required to remove or return any of the wire or
jacks that are installed during a Max installation.
Does Wire Watch apply to Max wire?
Yes. If a Max customer wants Wire Watch, inform them that it will
cover the premise wiring between the NID (Network Interface
Device) and the jack, jack to jack and Max wire. At this point,
existing (in-house) customer coax will not be covered by Wire
Watch.
USING REMOTE
Can I program the Max Remote Control with my TV and
VCR?
Yes, you can program the Max Remote Control with your TV and
VCR. From the Max Home Page, select the ‘Help’ option, then the
‘Using Remote’ option. From there, choose ‘Programming the Max
Remote Control’. Please note that we have found a type of TV
where some particular models do not allow for this programming
feature.
Is a Max Remote Control dedicated to one set-top box, or
can it work with other boxes?
The Max Remote Control can be used interchangeably between
set-top boxes. However, if you have different TV sets you may not
be able to use the remote controls for both TV sets (since you may
have programmed specific TV codes into one remote control).
Therefore, the remote controls will work interchangeably for the
set-top box, but not for any specific TV commands (e.g. VOL + or
VOL -).
What if I lose or break my Max remote control?
Unfortunately, the Max Remote Control operates the set-top box,
which operates the TV functionality. Thus, if this remote control is
lost or broken, the set-top box cannot be controlled. To repair or
purchase a new remote control, refer to the Equipment in the Max
Manual.
What kind of remote control is required?
Max requires a customized remote control that has buttons for
unique Max functions, such as the Home Page, the Interactive TV
Guide, Max Mail, etc. The remote control is an extension or a tool
to use with the set-top box, therefore the remote control won’t
work for any television that does not have a set-top box for Max.
Can I use another brand of universal remote control?
No. The Max Remote Control provided with the set-top box is
required because of its preprogrammed shortcut buttons.
Why did the installer leave two remote controls?
The Max Remote Control is the main unit to use since it is
programmed with shortcut keys to help in your maneuvering
around the Max Service. The Pace Remote Control could be used
as a basic back up.
Can I purchase an additional remote control?
Yes, you can purchase an additional remote control from a SaskTel
store. The cost to purchase a remote control is $22.95.
