Note: Fuel leak age will show as a stain on lines, fit -
tings, and com po nents.
10. Vi sually check all fuel lines, fit tings, and com po nents for ev i -
dence of fuel leak age.
Draining - Fuel Sys tem
WARN ING
PRIOR TO DEFUELING, ENSURE ENGINE IS
OFF, ROTOR SYSTEM IS STATIC AND ALL
ELECTRICAL POWER IS REMOVED FROM
HELICOPTER.
DO NOT FUEL OR DEFUEL HELICOPTER INSIDE
ANY HANGAR OR BUILDING. STATIC
DISCHARGE CAN IGNITE FUEL VAPORS
RESULTING IN EXPLOSION AND FIRE.
1. Ac com plish fuel drain ing with the he li cop ter as level as pos si -
ble. The fuel sys tem may be defueled in two ways:
a. Defuel through the filler port(s), us ing a pump.
b. Defuel by open ing the fuel strainer drain valve (and aux il iary
tank sump drain valve if in stalled).
2. Fire extinguishers shall be readily avail able for all fuel ing and
defueling op er a tions.
3. Be fore be gin ning defueling op er a tion, con nect ground wire from
defueling equip ment to the GROUND HERE re cep ta cle or other
bare metal lo ca tion on he li cop ter.
