3-3. ENGINE FAIL URE - AL TI TUDE BE LOW 7 FEET
A power fail ure is in di cated by a sud den yaw ing of the ship to the
left. Do not re duce col lec tive pitch. Ap ply right pedal to pre vent
ex ces sive yaw ing and right stick to min i mize drift. Ap ply col lec tive
pitch as nec es sary in or der to cush ion land ing.
3-4. DITCHING - POWER OFF
Note
: Fol low the pro ce dures de fined in para graphs 3-1
through 3-3 for auto ro ta tion ap proach and land ing.
Upon con tact with wa ter, pro ceed as fol lows:
1. Lower col lec tive pitch and ap ply sideward cy clic stick af ter con -
tact is made with wa ter.
2. Re lease seat belt and shoul der har ness.
3. Open both doors and exit he li cop ter.
WARNING
CLEAR HELICOPTER IMMEDIATELY TO
PREVENT INJURY.
3-5. DITCHING - POWER ON
1. De scend to hov er ing al ti tude over wa ter.
2. Un latch doors.
3. Pas sen ger exit air craft
4. Fly a safe dis tance away
5. Turn bat tery and al ter na tor switches OFF
6. Close twistgrip to idle po si tion
7. Al low air craft to set tle in a level at ti tude, ap ply full col lec tive.
8. When air craft be gins to roll, re duce col lec tive to full down.
9. Re lease seat belt and shoul der har ness.
